Flying into Akureyri is an experience in itself since the town is surrounded by mountains…absolutely stunning! Once on the ground, we will travel north west towards our first “home away from home” on the Tröllaskagi peninsula. It wouldn’t be a road trip without lunch! So our first official stop is in Dalvik.

Dalvik

(Icelandic pronunciation: [ˈtalˌviːk])

Offering a spectacular view Dalvík is placed in the natural paradise that is Tröllaskagi peninsula and has great access to the ocean.

There are many hiking routes in and around Dalvík and everyone can and will find routes for their ability.

In Dalvík you will also find a well equipped swimming pool, folk museum Hvoll, unique skiing facilities, a golf course, sea angling and whale watching, horseback riding and many, many other things.

Gísli, Eiríkur & Helgi is a nice little café located at Grundargata 1, Dalvík and also goes by the name Bakkabræður café.

The café is named after three brothers famous in our old folk stories also named Bakkabræður. The brothers believed everything anyone said and were quite simple men. The stories were created around their personalities and the following humor.

The café has become popular for its decorations and design. It’s old-fashioned with hundreds of items worth looking at.
